Horiba Test Automation offers a wide range of software products from MEXA tools, VETS emissions tests systems, test stand automation, data evaluation and reporting software to driver's aids.  We have many years of experience, designing and supporting these software products in locations all around the world.

The automation software can help bring the road into the laboratory through the use of powerful real-time software models and offline analysis tools.  We have also captured the know-how of HORIBA in the field of vehicle emissions testing in our market-leading emissions automation systems and data evaluation systems.

Test stand control and automation is provide by the user-friendly STARS automation system. From simple-to-use concepts, to advanced real-time road load load simulation models and also comprehensive emissions packages, STARS has the solution for today's advanced testing needs.

We are currently seeking a number of Software Automation Testers to join our teams to work on exciting development projects.

Working within a global distributed development team, you will participate in the development of class leading enterprise-level, test planning, data acquisition, automation and data management software platforms and applications. Our solutions incorporate a diverse and stimulating range of software technologies based on Microsoft technologies.

The role will involve working with a small, geographically-distributed testing team to generate test specifications and undertake testing for multiple product development streams. Testing is carried out using a variety of facilities, including desktop machines, a VMWare Virtual Infrastructure and live test environments. Some manual testing will also be undertaken.

This role will be expected to make a contribution to optimising the effectiveness of our testing activities in particular and the quality of our operations in general.


The responsibilities of this role include:-

  • Assist in the development of an automation test strategy for both web and desktop applications
  • Develop and maintain automation test frameworks within a continuous integration and delivery environment
  • Assist in the selection of automation test tooling
  • Creation of automated tests in both web and desktop environments including cross-browser and UI testing, to verify both functional and non-functional requirements
  • Carry out exploratory testing and test scenarios to uncover unusual issues
  • Investigation of problem reports received and identification of faults
  • Work with the development team to improve product testability
  • Provide input for backlog grooming and scoring
  • Defect reporting
  • Liaison with other HORIBA sites around the world
  • Based in Worcester with occasional business trips to Ukraine, Czech Republic, Germany, North America and within the UK.



Required attributes and experience include:

  • Strong coding skills with the ability to design and create automation test frameworks
  • Strong QA and software testing industry knowledge
  • Well versed in software engineering tools and best practice
  • Over 5 years of proven automation testing experience including the development of testing frameworks
  • Competence in working with Microsoft Windows operating systems and Linux distributions and Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, plus knowledge of containers such as Docker an advantage
  • Ability to adapt and learn and think dynamically on your feet
  • Analytical and logical thinking with natural curiosity
  • The ability to deliver to agreed deadlines
  • Use of configuration management, change management and defect tracking tools
  • Some knowledge of automotive engineering and development testing would be an advantage
  • Experience of working in an agile SCRUM environment.

STEM degree and ISTQB qualifications preferred.
