A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work within the team based at our Harwell office.

Job Responsibilities

  • Working with assigned bid teams on designated tenders to analyse the contractual terms and conditions proposed by customers, assuring accuracy and appropriateness of contract texts and schedules, ensuring that proposals are aligned to company policies and procedures.

  • Identify and mitigate the commercial risks presented by designated tenders.

  • Working closely with Nuvia procurement teams, advising on/fixing procurement strategy to facilitate the procurement of robust and fully underpinned supply chain prices.

  • Review and analysis of supply chain quotes.

  • Identifying potential ‘red-lines’ according to the company’s policies, proposing possible deviations to mitigate contractual/economic risks.

  • Discussion and negotiation with customers, partners and supply chain of the proposed contractual agreements.

  • Contribute to the detailed risk analysis process for designated tenders.

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with project sponsors and other key stakeholders, both internal and external.

Skills and Experience:

  • Ideally degree qualified in a relevant subject, but candidates who can clearly demonstrate ‘qualifications’ via experience will be considered. Relevant professional membership an advantage, but not essential.
  • Extensive commercial experience working for EPC contracting organisation(s) within highly regulated industries/sectors.
  • Extensive experience with most common forms of contract within the construction/engineering industry, with particular focus on application of the NEC3 suite of contracts. Excellent grasp of commercial contracting models eg. Fixed price, target cost, reimbursable etc.
  • Specific experience in addressing contractual matters and interfacing with legal professionals, with particular knowledge of UK Law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function.
  • Some experience developing tenders as part of a multi-disciplined bid team would be an advantage.
  • Good working knowledge of typical IT project tools (MS office, Primavera etc).
  • Good communication/interpersonal skills required at all levels.
  • Strong negotiator and influencer, with the ability to secure the required outcomes when dealing with both internal and external stakeholders.
