A vacancy has arisen for a Construction Manager within the team based at Dounreay.

Construction Manager Role overview:

Main purpose of the role:

  • To manage site construction works as delegated by the Project Manager
  • To set up the site infrastructure in accordance with company standard
  • To manager all resources including Subcontractors and Nuvia labour on site to ensure safety, quality and time constraints are met.
  • To be the focal point of the site works as they are implemented on site
  • Comply with Nuvia standards for construction works

Position of the Construction Manager within the organisation:

  • Reports directly to the Project Manager / Construction Project Manager
  • Is the primary point of contact for on-site communications.
  • Directly manages project teams, comprising both Nuvia personnel and subcontractor resources in implementing the site works
  • Communicates effectively with all site stakeholders, especially client representatives
  • Accountable for construction site performance

Key responsibilities…

  • Set up site infrastructure to enable the start of construction works
  • Is familiar with all contract documents particularly the drawings and specification to ensure the full scope of work is met
  • To manage a team of supervisors and engineers in progressing the site works
  • Communicates effectively to all parties supervising and undertaking the works.
  • Directs a team of supervisors and engineers in the implementation of the works
  • Sets up safe systems of work on site and approves all SSOW documents drafted by Nuvia and Subcontractors. Involves Safety dept in this process.
  • Identifies areas of inefficiency, interruption to the normal flow of work and areas for contract growth for the site works
  • Arranges for Drafts reports for inclusion in project manager reports

 Ideally you will have the following skills, experience and attributes…

  • Knowledge and qualification in a construction and/or trade based discipline with formal qualifications. Ideally higher qualifications with construction theme
  • Demonstrable experience in Construction Works delivery with a high M and E content
  • Ambitious ability to drive construction to successful completion
  • Experience in the Nuclear construction/decommissioning arena
  • Leadership/People management skills, Stakeholder management, Communication skills at all levels across the business
  • Motivational and unfazed at working to tight deadlines
  • Client focused
  • Sub contractor and management experience
  • A full UK driver’s license
